Job Description

We offer small group, multi-day backpacking or llama/mule supported trips, day hikes, car-camping basecamp style, and inn-based hiking trips for adults and families looking to experience unforgettable hiking vacations in majestic landscapes. Guests can expect delicious meals and extraordinary guides who have the ability to turn a great get-away into an unforgettable, inspiring adventure.

We have trips for every ability level both on and off 'the beaten path'. Guides manage all aspects of the trip, are responsible for interpretive information, risk management, teaching all aspects of hiking and camping, guest satisfaction, and prepare 3 meals a day for guests in the field. Efficient and effective organizational skills, strong work ethic, excellent written and verbal communication and a high level of fitness are needed. Guides walk all day carrying a heavy backpack in varied backcountry environments and weather while providing excellent customer service and managing social dynamics in mixed groups. We offer guides roughly 15-20 days of work a month during the season. 

We are looking for guides in 2021 who are willing to work seasonally March through October in a desert and mountain branch or mid-June through September in one of our mountain branches. 

Hiring guides for the following positions and locations:

Smokys based out of Asheville, NC.

Grand Canyon & Sedona based out of Flagstaff, AZ

Zion, Bryce, Escalante, Death Valley and Joshua Tree based out of St. George UT

Sierra's based out of Mariposa, CA.

Pacific Northwest based out of Seattle, WA area

Greater Yellowstone based out of Driggs, ID.

Yellowstone based out of Bozeman, MT.

Yellowstone Day Hike only guide based out of West Yellowstone or Gardner, MT

 

Required Skills

  • At least 21 years old to guide/drive

  • Previous guiding or outdoor leadership experience

  • WFR/CPR certified (or willing to obtain)

  • Outdoor cooking skills

  • Interpretation and teaching skills

  • Service-oriented work ethic

  • Full time availability during the season

Preferred Skills

  • 8-15 pass van/trailer driving

  • Strong local knowledge

  • Interest in forming a multi-year guiding career with us
