Looking for a Bike Skills Instructor

Auckland North Shore, New Zealand

Job Description

Do you recall the joy of riding a bike for the first time? Do you love that feeling of freedom that takes over every time you get on your bike? How would you like to be a part of creating that experience for somebody else?

Well look no further!

We are looking for passionate individuals with bike riding experience to help deliver Bike Skills programmes in the community. You do not need to be a professional cyclist, however a level of personal competence on the bike is necessary, as is the desire to teach others.

We deliver to groups of all ages and backgrounds so ideal candidates will be able to build relationships with adults and children alike. You will be patient, empathetic, understanding and encouraging to ensure our clients have the best chance of realising their cycling goals.

Our courses may involve you teaching an adult or a child to ride a bike for the first time, or building confidence in someone who has not ridden a bike in 40 years. You may be facilitating a “Have a go” experience, leading a guided ride, developing skills and confidence in an off-road environment or taking these skills to the road for the first time. If you have the mechanical know-how you could also be involved in delivering our basic bike and e-bike maintenance courses.

The ideal candidate will be available largely for weekend and evening work (half and full days available - dependent on programme). There is also the possibility of some in-school work during the week. If you are looking for additional work around study, life or other work commitments then this could be the job for you! It would also fit someone seeking more meaningful work, wanting to follow their passion for cycling or perhaps wanting to scale down from a demanding corporate job. Not to mention wanting to work outdoors in the fresh air and sunshine with an awesome crew of people!

Being safety conscious is a must, however full training will be provided for each of the numerous programmes we offer. We will provide continual on-job training and mentorship to ensure you are comfortable and confident in your delivery. Being a team player is also vital as you will often be working with a group of like-minded instructors to deliver the required outcomes.

Lastly, there is an opportunity to upskill yourself whilst you work. We can provide qualification through the Skills Active pathway to reward you for the new skills and experience you gain. What better way to upskill than to learn while you earn right?

So what are you waiting for? Begin your journey today to more meaningful work and help others to discover the joys and benefits of a life on two wheels!

We are looking for people with all sorts of skills. Bush, kayak, ABL, raft, rock, abseil, cave, mountain bike and cycle skills, to name a few! Please flick an email or click the apply online link below for full details.
