Job Description

We are looking for an Administrator to work within the Certification Team at the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) in Hamble.

The RYA is responsible for setting and monitoring standards for national training schemes in sailing which are delivered by RYA qualified instructors through our network of recognised centres. The Certification Team are the first point of contact for administrative enquiries from instructors, examiners, training centres and the general public, both in the UK and overseas. The Certification Team is responsible for the issue of statutory certificates and maintains the details of 25,000 instructors. It issues 60,000 certificates per annum and handles in excess of 800 phone calls and 800 e-mails per week.

Based in our office in Hamble the key duties for this administration role are: -

  • To receive and respond promptly to administrative enquiries by phone, e-mail and letter from instructors, examiners, training centres and the general public.
  • To maintain the databases of qualified instructors and certificate holders to ensure that all relevant members of staff have access to up to date information.
  • To check and process, accurately and in a timely manner, examination reports, application and renewal forms, and issue certificates in accordance with RYA policy and statutory requirements.
  • To issue renewal reminders at appropriate intervals in accordance with RYA policy and generally undertake tasks required by the team.
  • To represent the RYA, on an occasional basis, at Boat Shows and relevant events in order to provide information to the public on the RYA’s training schemes.

We are looking for individuals with strong attention to detail who can work quickly and accurately. You must enjoy being part of a busy team and enjoy supporting and communicating with your colleagues. Data entry is a key aspect of this role so you must be computer literate and used to working with Microsoft Office and databases.

Contract length: 9- 2 months (maternity cover)

Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term

Salary: £17,500.00-£18,500.00 per year
