Job Overview

This is a seasonal opportunity from May 1 to August 27, 2021. Reporting to the Yachting Director, this person will help create a dynamic and nurturing development program and will be integral to the success and continued growth of the program at the Club. Specific duties would include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Provides ongoing feedback to athletes including progress reports, Sail Canada checklists updates, mid-session, and end of session interviews.
  • Disseminates regular communications to athletes and parents.
  • Assists the staff in designing curriculum and daily lesson plans.
  • Provides supervision during athlete arrival and departure.
  • Leads to daily staff meetings.
  • Performs daily opening and closing duties; maintenance and cleanliness of sailboat fleet, coach boat fleet, coaching equipment, instructional spaces, and physical plant.
  • Provides an inclusive, welcoming, and flexible learning environment for all participants.


Job Qualifications:

As a minimum*, our preferred candidates will:

  • Be available from May 1 to August 27, 2021
  • Be able to certify Sail Canada CANSail 3&4 (or higher). Completion of the CANSail Program Manager module is considered an asset
  • Be able to demonstrate up-to-date Sail Canada prerequisites and the payment of annual instructor dues
  • Be able to perform basic boat maintenance
  • Be capable of inspiring sailors, parents, and instructors to embrace the sport of sailing
  • Be confident in their leadership, communication, and administrative abilities
  • Be enthusiastic, professional and demonstrate a true passion for youth sailing
  • The Club may be able to assist you in the attainment of these qualifications prior to the start of the season. Candidates with racing experience, working knowledge of CHECKLICK web-based software, a VHF Maritime Operators License and a Toronto Harbour License will be given special consideration
