Rival national teams from Australia, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Japan, New Zealand, Spain and the United States battle it out in identical supercharged F50 catamarans, engineered for intense racing at electrifying speeds exceeding 50 knots (nearly 60 mph).

Essential Responsibilities

  • Reports to SailGP Event Director.
  • Act as SailGP’s main event point of contact in the local market. This includes producing and building out a full event along with inputting into local marketing and promotions of the event.
  • Confirm all necessary permits, leases, venue procurement. Create and edit any existing or new documents needed to confirm permits – this includes maps, reports, policies, etc.
  • Main point of contact for all permitting agencies with Event Director being secondary point of contact.
  • Input into the visa and travel exemption requirements for global SailGP crew by liaising with local experts to help facilitate this process.
  • Full staffing plan to be developed with Event Director. Where applicable, translators will be required.
  • Preliminary site plans to be provided for 3 event sites by Event Director – Technical Area (Includes Broadcast), Event Village (Includes Broadcast), On-water (Includes air space above water).
  • Event budget to be provided by Event Director. Input and budget tracking to be done as services are locked in to represent actuals.
  • Manage the selection, contract and management of contractors and service providers to assist in the delivery of the infrastructure and equipment. This will include creating or updating existing RFP’s to go out to market. Recommend and ascertain cost for where prevailing wages apply and handle any union needs with vendors and/or permitting agencies, if required. This is including, but not limited to the following -
    • Concessions for public
    • Catering for crew
    • Spectator Experience and Ticketing
    • AV
    • Stage Programming and Event TV
  • Deliver and execute the spectator experience and ticketing commercial program including developing a package that doesn’t deviate from SailGP’s series packages that fans in the local market would purchase and the value against it, building a ticketing platform with global team support that is used in the local market, maintaining weekly P&L reports and analyzing trends in purchasing, and managing customer service issues. Playbook will be provided by Event Director and Commercial Operations Manager.
  • Coordinate the selection, contract and management of contractors and/or service providers for marketing, promotions, and PR including agency candidates at the request of global teams. Playbook will be provided by global teams for execution in the local market.
  • Event Risk Profile will need to be executed in the local market as provided by Event Director.
  • Facilitate selection and contract of a local medical team to execute SailGP’s COVID protocols which will be provided by Event Director.
  • Coordinate with global teams to actively assist in the delivery of partner activations at and outside of the event sites.
  • Coordinate with global teams to deliver the Inspire Program which consists of careers, racing, and learning.
  • Coordinate with global teams for the delivery and operation of the Technical Area to use the same providers as the village and generate cost efficiencies.
  • Coordinate hiring a security group to deliver a full land and water security plan in conjunction with all local safety agencies. Where applicable, coordinate with the global teams to provide support in delivery of the overall plan.
  • Coordinate with global teams to plan utilities based on each venue layout and requirements.
  • Coordinate with global teams to deliver waste management at each venue, using local providers.
  • SailGP will provide sustainability program initiatives to execute along with sustainability reporting needs that are required post event. Data collection from vendors, suppliers, etc. will be immediately following load out.
  • Attend all necessary site visits/planning trips as needed. Attend all meetings and calls as needed by the global team.
