Kayaking Guide Lead and; Assistant positions available Guides are needed for our 2021 season, May-October.
Dependent on schedule and desire, guides work 1-8 tours per week, sometimes two per day if desired.
Assistant Kayak Guide Assistant Guide Qualifications:
– Current First Aid and Adult & Child CPR
– Beginning knowledge of natural history (wildlife, geology, marine environment)
– Experience leading groups, preferably in an outdoor setting
– Knowledge of or willingness to learn about local cultural history, natural history, and conservation issues – Experience in kayaking, rescues and navigation. (will train)
Assistant Guide Responsibilities:
– Utilize outdoor leadership, group management, and people skills to facilitate a positive safe experience.
– Help clients adjust gear & boats and provide basic paddling tips
– Help lead guide with rescues and group management on the water
– Be Familiar with local waterways, weather patterns
– Help with clean up of kayaks and gear.
Trip Pay: is based on tour length, (3-6 hrs) and guide level: $115-$160 per tour. Overnight tours also available.
Lead Kayak Guide Lead Guide Qualifications:
– Current Wilderness First Aid and Adult & Child CPR
– Weekend or midweek availability.
– Basic knowledge of natural history (wildlife, geology, water/outdoor environment)
– Experience leading groups, preferably in an outdoor setting
– Training and experience in kayaking, rescues and navigation. (will train)
– Excellent outdoor leadership, group management, and people skills.
– Able to be flexible, well organized and pay attention to all details while keeping the larger picture in focus.
– Lead kayak guides must have a Oregon drivers license and drive with a trailer.
In addition to our public tours, we offer customized private tours, team-building tours, and environmental education tours for school groups, scout troops, corporate groups, and other private groups. Experience in these areas is a plus.
Pay Scale: is on a per tour basis and based on guide level: $105-$135
