Queenstown Snowsports Instructor - 2021 University Students

Our Snowsports crew are an important part of our mountain's personalities and help us deliver on our promise to our guests. As a Snowsports Instructor our expectation is that you will strive to deliver an exceptional experience for all our guests in every lesson you deliver, each and every day. 

We are looking for some pretty special people. 

Every guest brings their unique self whether they are a first timer on snow through to a seasoned expert and performance skier or rider. You will need to be flexible, adaptable and completely customer centric. You will be willing to go the extra mile - whether by assisting your own guests or helping out another instructor or team, we all roll up our sleeves and ‘muck in’ whenever required. 

Our instructors have a unique opportunity to make 'Winter Legendary'. We want all our guests to have a fantastic day and leave the mountain planning their next winter experience with us! 

About the role 

• Providing lessons/coaching of high value to all levels of guests 
• Using appropriate terrain to develop skills, build confidence and facilitate fun learning 
• Teaching both kids & adults across your certification level 
• Teaching all snowsports products we offer in 2021 including local and regional school groups, group and private lessons, programmes and workshops (if relevant to your cert level)  with a consistent focus on a high value experience, fun and progression for our guests. In the background you’ll refer to NZSIA/SBINZ methodologies as your guide 
• Concierge style welcoming of all our guests and efficient allocation into their reservation allocation and ability groups. Always using a professional manner and providing information on our environment, our region and ski resort services 

 About You 

• Committed to the delivery of outstanding customer experiences. 
• Adaptable to teaching/coaching in our ever-changing environment and committed to developing return business and work 
• Confidently step in to help each other and other departments when and as required 
• Drive your own development and on snow training opportunities 
• Understand that employment is subject to the vagaries of the weather, conditions and business levels. Hours of  work cannot be guaranteed 

Skills and Qualifications 

• A member of a national instructor organisation (NZSIA, PSIA, BASI, APSI, CSIA etc) with a current active membership 
  • ISIA or equivalent Level 2, 3, 4, Trainer or Examiner Level
• New Zealand and Australian applicants require a minimum of NZSIA Level One or equivalent to be considered for employment.?(If you are a Kiwi or an Australian and currently uncertified but keen to enter the industry, please consider our new “NZ Rookie programme”) 
• Previous instructing or coaching experience, as well as qualification/s, is a distinct advantage 
• Freestyle, Racing, Adaptive, Kids Cert qualifications/certifications and experience is a huge advantage 
• Ability to teach another discipline (Ski, snowboard, telemark) also an advantage

• In order to set you up for success, all employees will participate in a company induction and Snowsports onboarding training. 
• All successful applicants will be required to be vetted by NZ Police (we do this on your behalf)
