Your contribution 
The following responsibilities are specific to this role at Tinaroo.You'll find the full duties and responsibilities for an OO5 Ranger in the attachments. 
Commitment to working in genuine partnership with Queensland's First Nations people to achieve stronger outcomes for community and for all people. For further reading click: Gurra Gurra Framework 
Collaboration with other leaders to proactively nurture, develop and manage projects and the performance and capability of your team. 
Day to day task allocation for your team of 4 – making sure everyone knows what they are doing, where they need to be and what resources they will need to do the work effectively and safely each day. 
Promotion of awareness, appreciation and understanding of conservation values to park visitors, enhancing their experience within our parks. 
Fire Management (crew leading and incident control management) 
Campground management and recreation-based compliance activities including visitor behaviour and management. 
Maintenance of park infrastructure, plant operation and maintenance, natural and cultural resource management, weed and pest control. 
Walking and mountain bike track management and maintenance 
Park road management and maintenance.

No two days are the same here, you'll be operating chainsaws and power sprayers one day in the field, and the next you'll be utilizing technology to manage projects, people and resources. 
About you 
To succeed in this role, you'll have four things in abundance: 
 

  • Great people skills (engaging with Traditional Owners, managing the complexities of a team and the general public)
  • Broad field skills gained as a ranger or from a similar land conservation/management background
  • An appetite for and ability to solve complex problems using initiative, collaboration and tenacity
  • Confidence in your ability to deliver a physically and psychologically safe work environment

You're a current or emerging supervisor, looking for a supported environment to hone your skills and grow leadership savvy. 
You're open minded and empathetic to other perspectives and experiences, yet you'll have courage and determination to tackle complex problems. You'll measure your own success through your team members thriving and kicking goals. 
You already have a broad range of operational environmental field skills, which may include fire, weed, pest, asset, and resource management, but you're open to learning new skills and technologies. 
You'll have a strong safety mindset, that includes a focus on and knowledge of both contemporary psychological and physical safety and wellbeing practices. 
You thrive in nature-based recreation activities, physical fitness and you feel right at home when you're outdoors!
