The Role:

This Program Manager role will see the successful applicant become an integral link in our not-for profit charity. We are owned by the Lions Clubs of Victoria and Southern NSW with the underlying theme of providing opportunities for disadvantaged, disengaged, and deserving youth to come and have enriching, life changing experiences.

At the southern gateway to the Alpine National Park, we have operated for 50 years as a school camp and weekend getaway venue, all to underpin our charity. Previous experience working in residential school camps and managing programs would be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Managing and overseeing residential outdoor education programs. From first point of contact with schools, to implementing and overseeing the program, coordinating activity and catering staff, liaising with teachers and gear checks and maintenance.
  • Be a mentor for a small group of employees
  • Identifying new opportunities to develop our client base, including schools, deserving disadvantaged and disability groups, along with public groups
  • Liaising with schools to develop sequential programming into the future
  • Supporting activity instructors and occasionally running activities such as Giant Swing, Flying Fox, Canoeing, and Rock Climbing.
  • Assist in managing internal training programs – both technical & facilitation
  • Involvement in developing systems and procedures
  • Reviewing safety systems
  • Debriefing and evaluating programs in response to feedback
  • Supporting our bookings manager in quoting for programs and activities
  • Identifying both standard and non-standard client requirements
  • Maintaining & developing key relationships with stakeholders and clients, including Government Departments and the local community

 

Requirements:
  • Qualification in Outdoor Recreation or similar
  • Prior experience in management or logistics of Outdoor Programs is preferred
  • Willingness to live in a remote area and understanding the aspects of this
  • Proven customer service and communication skills
  • Minimum Remote Area First Aid – Wilderness preferred
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Able to demonstrate initiative around stepping outside of designated role into other roles such as maintenance, kitchen and cleaning from time to time.
  • Adhere to all policies & procedures of the organisation
  • Experience working with basic computer programs
  • Willingness to work extended hours and some weekends when required

 

Rewards:

Remuneration package $50,00 - $55,000 plus super dependent on skills and experience

Heavily subsidised housing may be available on-site
