Job Description

Position – Watersports Instructor in the Marine Department.

Reporting to – Marine Manager, the General Manager.

Description

Our Instructors are responsible for delivering all sailing or windsurfing training, RYA courses and private lessons. This role will also require general assisting with the marine department, ferry boat driving and any other reasonable management request.

Statement

The role is a general one with work being undertaking in all areas of the Club marine department whilst working as part of a small team.

The role will require weekend working.

This is a seasonal for the summer and part time.

Training will be provided for all Marine roles.

Requirements

RYA Dinghy or Windsurfing Instructor – Ideally both.

RYA Powerboat 2

RYA First Aid Certificate

A clean DBS Check

Strong Communication skills and the ability to manage a group.

Ability to pull boats and equipment up the beach and complete an 8 Hour shift.

Honesty and hard work.

Desirable

Maintenance skills/experience.

A minimum 2 summers seasons teaching experience.

Responsibilities

Instructors will be responsible for their groups but under the supervision of a senior instructors. Instructors will have to give briefings and debriefings to students. Their sessions must be run with safety, enjoyment and learning as their core principals. All lessons must be run within the Operating Procedures,  Health and Safety Policy,  COVID Policy and RYA standards.

Support Hire fleet customers - helping people on the beach, rigging up, launching, recovery and de-rigging.

To set up and pack down all equipment required for the day including supporting race events with the correct equipment e.g. race marks, flags.

To deliver high level of customer service to all club members and visitors at all times.

To Drive the Club Ferry and complete ferry shifts as required, including shifts at night.

To provide support to any other events or training run as well as providing briefings and de-briefings when required.

To assist in daily operation of the club as required.

Maintain all the hire fleet dinghies to a high standard on a regular basis.

To assist in the maintenance of all equipment.

To keep the Rescue, Committee and Ferry boats clean and up to full inventory.

Complete maintenance checks, fill in maintenance logs in line with the club policy.

To help monitor the dinghy park.

To maintain clean and safe working areas, inside the boat shed and the yard.

Comply with any other reasonable management request.
