We are hiring a Seasonal Kiteboarding Assistant Manager:. This is position is year round and benefits eligible. You will be working primarily in Rodanthe, North Carolina.

Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of this position is to lead the instructors and to manage all operations dealing with the kiteboarding school, rentals, and managing the outside recreational area. This position is ultimately responsible for ensuring customers/students have a safe and positive kiteboarding experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Encouraging PASA memberships and doing the appropriate work involved to sign up the individual
  • Ensure that every person fills out a waiver
  • Encourage them to rent kites and/or demo try out kites to facilitate sales
  • Maintaining the security of all the equipment
  • Making sure the equipment is all working and store properly
  • Ensure staff is trained on rental procedures
  • Perform regular maintenance on the watercraft or be responsible for scheduling it with a mechanic
  • Security of the watercraft for any inclement weather
  • Boats anchored and secured everyday
  • Proper management of the fuel
  • Responsible for the equipment, must make a daily report accounting for the equipment with a physical count of the inventory
    • Training of all kiteboarding instructions. This is done in conjunction with the Kiteboarding Operations Manager.
    • Weekly staff meetings are held to improve communication and offer continuing education for instructors
    • Holding ongoing scheduled evaluations of instructors
    • Ensure that all instructors are doing the required paperwork correctly and offering sales opportunities
    • Audit and maintain waivers and PASA documents
    • Scheduling the instructors work schedule
    • Coordinating the instructors work schedule with the reservation schedule and making sure the appropriate lesson spots are available to correspond with the work schedule. This includes monitoring schedules daily to increase available opportunities
    • Responsible for handling the re-scheduling lessons with reservations and the customers
    • Responsible for the safety of the students
    • Ensure lessons on start on time
    • Provide each customer with a great experience both on and off the water
  • - Create Sales Opportunities - be available at the end of the lesson to encourage booking of the next lesson and to encourage the sale of equipment
  • - Technical support for retail sales - assist customers to set-up new kiteboards and or kites
    • Greeting & welcoming kiteboards on site and enforcing the site rules in regard to launching/landing and general use of the grounds
    • Managing the school equipment and rental equipment (kiteboarding, kayaks, & SUP's)
    • Managing the school watercraft boats/jet skis
    • Manage the operation of the Demo/Rental Center
    • Maintaining the resort
      • Empty trash cans and pick up debris to keep a clean area in and around the school
    • - Clean the outside restrooms and shower areas - dump the trash cans daily
      • Clean/maintain all launch and kite access area from debris to ensure a safe experience for all customers and employees
    • All other duties as assigned


Education and Experience:

  • Knowledgeable of weather patterns
  • Must be PASA certified Instructor Level 3
  • Have and maintain CPR and First AID certified
  • Boat safety certification
  • Must have an array of knowledge of different types of kites and board to offer technical assistance to customers
  • Proficient in swimming and safety

Working Conditions:

The work environment for this position is generally outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Mostly sunny and hot conditions. Will spend much of the time in, on or around the water. May be requested to work overtime and weekends during the company’s in-season time period.May be requested to drive company vehicle to other locations and tow watercraft.

Physical Requirements :

About 1/2 of one's time will be spent climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling. Two-thirds of one's time will be spent standing, walking, sitting, and reaching. About 2/3 of one's time will be spent using one's hands to finger, handle or feel, as well as talking or hearing. Expect to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis. Vision required: close, color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Some other physical demands come from working outdoors on and around the water.
