Job Description

Occupational Requirements

 

  • Responsible for on-hill public safety and first aid response in emergency health and safety situations

  • Assessing condition of injured parties; administering first aid treatment and transitioning to emergency personnel if required

  • Clearly communicating with other ski hill departments and key emergency contacts

  • Ensuring accurate reporting of all first aid and emergency incidents and submitting necessary documentation

  • Advising on run closures and ensuring appropriate signage is in place

  • Assisting with emergency lift evacuation

  • This position primarily works outdoors in variable winter weather conditions and cold temperatures

Qualifications

 

  • 1 year of related experience, and some high school education required

  • Minimum Advanced First Aid Certification; Canadian Ski Patrol certification is an advantage

  • Demonstrated advanced skiing or snowboarding ability

  • Excellent communication, customer service and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to maintain composure during high-stress emergency incidents

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

  • Physically fit as this is a physically demanding position; must be able to lift 50 lbs

  • Experience operating a snowmobile is an asset

  • Knowledge of park facilities/services, especially Hidden Valley Ski Resort, is an asset

Terms of Employment

  • Anticipated End Date : On or before March 31st, 2021—subject to budgetary restrictions and operational requirements.

  • Shifts are 8 hours per day, up to a 40 hour work week

  • Weekend and holiday work is required as Hidden Valley operates Wednesday through Sunday (with extended hours during holiday seasons)

  • On-site fully furnished rental accommodations are available but not guaranteed.
