Job Title: Snowschool Trainer (Part Time)

Department: Snow School

Reports to: Manager, Snow School

Job Summary:

  • Snowschool Trainers provide quality ski/snowboard instruction to staff in a safe and fun manner while upholding all the Resorts' policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Instructors with certifications across multiple disciplines (Ski, Snowboard or Adaptive) are highly desirable and will be looked on favourably.

As a Snowschool Trainer you will be focused on but not limited to: 

  • Carry out the functions of the position of Snowschool Trainer in a professional and ethical manner
  • Communicate clearly in a respectful and enthusiastic manner using language appropriate to our staff
  • Provide the highest quality of training to Snowschool staff in a safe and fun environment
  • Develop and deliver staff training programs
  • Adapt to, support and effectively deal with change and share learning opportunities with others
  • Be a team player, work considerately with all departments within the company
  • Engage with the supervisory and management team, demonstrate pro-active, positive and effective communication to facilitate and support teamwork and cooperation
  • Maintain currency in qualification and pursue ongoing professional training and development to provide high-level guest service and a positive snow experience
  • Arrive fit for work and take responsibility for your personal health and safety

  • Have the ability to embrace all aspects of your job

  • Be punctual, reliable and show up for work in full uniform with an enthusiastic attitude in all weather conditions
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with fellow workmates, showing respect to Managers, Supervisors and peers at all times
  • Show initiative in handling routine matters and have quick, thoughtful judgement in any situation.

Requirements

  • Have prior experience working as a Ski/Snowboard Instructor
  • Possess a minimum CSIA/CASI Level 4 Certification (or international equivalent) and able to provide proof of current certification
  • Have appropriate physical fitness to take on all assignments
  • Possess a high level of skiing/snowboarding abilities
  • Be fluent in all aspects of the English language (spoken and written)
  • Have excellent guest service skills
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Work well in a team
  • Be able to work in inclement weather in an alpine environment
  • Have sight, speech and hearing abilities sufficient to learn skills, follow and provide directions.
    Successful applicants over the age of 19 will be required to provide results of a clear background check valid within six months of the hire date before starting work. Grouse Mountain will assist with this process if the applicant does not have a valid background check.
