SUP NORWAY EXPEDITION LEADER WANTED

- ABOUT US -

We run minimalist unsupported stand up paddle expeditions in the fjords of Western Norway. We have a reputation for excellence and an international clientele that includes celebrities and world champion athletes. Our brand is small intimate groups, best quality gear and top level guiding/leadership in the most majestic fjords in the world. Focus is on being present in nature rather than endurance paddling.

We require an experienced and talented expedition leader/host to lead expeditions in our existing area of operations in the UNESCO protected Nærøyfjord/Aurlandsfjord branches of Sognefjord in the West of Norway.

This is an incredibly rewarding and exciting opportunity for the right candidate.

- ABOUT YOU -

You are resident in Norway (or EU). You are experienced and confident in leading paddling groups in the wild and are uncompromising in your professionalism and safety routines. Your paddling endurance and strength are excellent and you are capable of towing a casualty for several km.

Your crisis management skills are proven and you are able to anticipate, identify and mitigate risk for a group on open water.

The wilderness is your second home, your camp-craft is impeccable and you enjoy imparting your skills to others. You have an inspirational personality, empathic and have an deep understanding of group dynamics. You like Ice water bathing.

- WORKING CONDITIONS -

- Position from April to Sept 2021.

- 8 & 5 day expeditions with varied rest days (paid) between + 1 week free in July (paid).

- Accommodation (shared) and food provided, you must be resident on-site for season.

- You will have an assistant guide and a max group size of 12 guests.

- DUTIES -

- Hosting, guiding, instruction, safety & welfare of expedition members (“guests”) from arrival until departure.

- All logistical considerations in preparation of and during the expeditions.

- Directing of and delegating tasks to assistant expedition guides.

- Representing the Company and it's values to the public, partners and associates.

- Purchase and preparation of food.

- Maintenance and cleaning of equipment.

- Driving and care of expedition vehicles.

- REQUIREMENTS -

Qualifications:

- Advanced Stand up paddle expedition or relevant, recognised certificate.

- Wilderness First Aid qualification (up to date / NOLS or similar).

- Driving licence

- Excellent Stand up paddle and proven leadership skills.

- Strong swimmer

- Excellent organisational skills and ability to use initiative.

- Good PC & media skills: images, video & social media

- English (Norwegian) spoken & written
