About the business

We employ over 550 people throughout Queensland. We are an efficient and vibrant organisation servicing over 33,000 members. It was formally established in 1930 and is the governing body for surf lifesaving in Queensland, comprising of 57 affiliated surf lifesaving clubs in six regional branches. The organisation also includes supporters' clubs and a range of programs that involve more than 462,000 participants. We are directly affiliated with, and is part of Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) and the International Life Saving Federation (ILF).

Our Organisation encompasses several diverse arms – lifesaving services, community education, membership services, surf sports, fundraising, aviation, lifeguards and commercial training.

About the role

We are seeking engaging and switched on person to help proactively coordinate frontline services of Surf Life Saving Queensland to ensure the provision of highly effective Lifesaving in designated regions of operations. At all times, operators will maintain situational awareness accounting firstly of the safety of our members and staff as well as the bathing public.

Responsibilities

  • Managing communication equipment including, radio and camera networks to ensure high-risk areas along the coastline are monitored
  • Liaise with external emergency services (police, ambulance, coast guard, etc.) to coordinate responses to incidents
  • Validate and check incident information received for accuracy before actioning
  • Using specialised radio, telephone, computer and safety camera equipment and systems
  • Proactively responding to client enquiries
  • Manage, prioritising and routing all incoming calls efficiently.

You will have

  • Current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID003) (Required)
  • Current Advance Resuscitation Techniques Certificate (HLTAID007) (or ability to work towards)
  • Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue) [Bronze] (Required)
  • Certificate IV TAE 40110 or TAE 40116 (or ability to work towards)
  • Provide and maintain Working with Children blue card (required)
  • Demonstrated experience providing excellent customer service
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Able to work proactively and independently
  • Be empathetic and caring to distressed personnel
