Job Description

We are recruiting for the 2021-22 season.

Seeking staff to fill the following roles in our team;

1. Grade 4/5 raftguide(s).

One or more guides with significant commercial experience on technical NZ rivers and good knowledge of current river rescue techniques . Senior award (grade 3 or grade 4/5), and ability to safety boat would be an advantage.

2. Grade 3 raftguide.

With a NZ grade 3 rafting ticket, or the skills and experience needed to become qualified shortly after starting work.

For both roles, the following qualities would be an advantage;

- Kayak Instructor (basic skills on grade 2 water).

- Commercial experience on the Mohaka river.

- P licence.

- Multi-day trip guiding experience.

We offer a wide variety of river trips in Hawkes Bay, including multi-day wilderness trips, day trips from grade 2 to 5, and various schools programmes (rafting, tramping, kayaking, water safety). Our season runs from mid-October to April.

We offer a competitive salary, and staff accommodation is available at our base, well situated for an outdoors enthusiast, with good access to nearby adventure opportunities. We encourage and support our staff to maintain and expand their skills, and offer river rescue training and the opportunity to gain further rafting qualifications. Staff may be required to do a drug test, and criminal record background check. A pay scale and role description is available on application.
