ESSENTIAL DUTIES (list in order of importance)

This position is responsible for the following “job results”.

  • Plans and implements the summer village activities, Camps and Kids Night Out programs for the resort
  • Developing a business plan that outlines the scope and action items to be funded throughout the year
  • Researching, negotiating and contracting with outside entertainment talent
  • Purchasing needed equipment and resources for scheduled programs
  • Develops, manages and enhances the overall summer youth activities, Big Top and Pre-Ski School budget
  • Defining needed expenses based on established action items
  • Working with state, local and community organizations to obtain funding and sponsorship to cover costs of specific programs
  • Following the company procedures when purchasing any equipment
  • Monitoring account general ledgers and produces monthly reports as to budget progress
  • Develops a communication plan for scheduled youth programs By: Utilizing local event calendars, community groups and social clubs
  • Working with resort's marketing department to get timely production of any needed collateral
  • Utilizing Snowshoe's on-mountain cable channel to develop informational programming on activities
  • Works with event staff to develop additional activities during event periods
  • Attending event-planning meetings
  • Utilizing staff to assist in the production of event activities and program
  • Develops a team to assist in resort youth programs
  • Working with local colleges to develop an intern staff responsible for specific duties throughout the season
  • Handling all necessary paperwork and housing requirements for intern staff
  • Developing job descriptions
  • Managing team to ensure responsibilities and duties are achieved
  • Manages and maintains the summer youth activities, Big Top and Pre-Ski School budgets
  • Developing the budgets
  • Utilizing the correct procedures for purchasing supplies, entertainment, etc.
  • Monitoring the monthly financial statements to ensure correct billing of expenses
  • Accomplishing related results as needed

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: College Degree Required

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in recreation, summer camp, or youth programming fields with at least 2 years supervisory or management experience.

 

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

First Aid, CPR and Lifeguard Certification is required

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Any employee or volunteer who operates a company vehicle including cars, trucks, snowcats, snowmobiles, or heavy equipment is required to comply with the company Driver’s Standards Policy. This policy also applies to employees or volunteers driving their personal vehicles for company business more than four times per month, averaging 30+ miles per trip. All drivers should receive a full copy of the company Driver’s Standards Policy; if you have not – please contact your Risk/Safety or HR/EE Department.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Office Environment:

  • Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 20 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a constant basis.
  • Auditory and visual acuity to operate computers, phones, mobile devices and basic office equipment on a constant basis
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time sitting, bending, reaching, and speaking on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, pushing and pulling on an occasional basis.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.

Mountain Environment:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily- reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • The primary physical environment in which this position works is out of doors with a high exposure level to cold, snow, wind, rain, bugs, sun, high altitude, extreme heights, lightning, etc...
  • The degree of strenuous activity within the job is considered to be high. Often lifting a weight of 50 pounds throughout the day is common.
  • Additional strenuous physical activity may include walking or hiking upon uneven, challenging terrain with heavy tools or equipment.
  • Exposure to: Chemicals required for cleaning, de-greasing, and painting Ultra Violet radiation from the sun enhanced through lack of atmospheric filtration at work altitude. Fumes produced in activities ranging from cleaning to painting to fabrication of metal products. Noise generated by snowmobiles, lift equipment, and tools may require hearing protection to be worn.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
