Job Description

As the single Chief Instructor Dinghy Sailing within the HQ, ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance with the RYA procedures and MOD regulations. To manage the vessel and equipment inventory that supports this activity IAW current guidelines and to ensure the safe delivery of all dinghy and windsurfing activities. Provide advice to the chain of command and other agencies on the conduct these and supporting activities. The applicant should be:

  • Excellent communication (oral and written) in order to influence decisions.
  • Able to think on their feet.

 

Responsibilities

1. Plan, resource and deliver CCF Dinghy and windsurfing activities worldwide in accordance with current policy and regulations following direction from the PBO. 

2. Instruct dinghy and windsurfing courses for Cadets and CFAVs through the relevant RYA schemes throughout the UK, ensuring that safety and instructional standards remain high. 

3. Manage the dinghy training budget, including VFM checks and applications for procurement ensuring activities stay within budget. 

4. Manage the small boat inventory of dinghies and safety boats tracking procurement, receipts maintenance and disposals, keeping SO2 Boats appraised of any issues. 

5. Monitor the levels of RYA qualifications held by CFAVs, ensuring the CCF RN HQ maintains the organic capability to deliver camps and courses through management of training and recruiting to enable a rolling succession plan. 

6. 6. Provide advice to the Commander, PBO and other agencies on the safe conduct and governance of RYA dinghy and windsurfing training. 

Qualifications 

RYA Senior Dinghy Instructor or above is the minimum requirement. 

Additional qualification as an RYA Windsurfing instructor and / or Powerboat Instructor would be an advantage but not necessary for application.
