We are recruiting Freelance Camp Instructors for 2022!

We deliver our camps throughout England with a concentration up and down the A1/M1 corridor from London to Newcastle. Please have a look at the linked advert (click the apply online link below) for more information on locations, what our camps involve and what we’re looking for.

Overview of Rates

• All instructors start on a probationary basis which will last between 1 and 7 camps depending on your experience.

• Probationary Camp Instructors receive a day rate of £100, or £150 for our 24 hour Classic Camp (you are not on call or working overnight) plus mileage (average payment of approximately £55) and benefits.

• Camp Instructors receive a day rate of £125, or £180 for our 24 hour Classic Camp (you are not on call or working overnight) plus mileage (average payment of approximately £55) and benefits.

Overview of Mileage, Allowances and Benefits

• We pay mileage at 45p a mile, minus the first 100 miles (average payment of approximately £55).

• We have a Staff Hardship fund so that freelance staff can receive partial sick pay if you are forced to cancel work with us due to the physical or mental health of you or a dependant.

• The Staff Hardship Fund currently covers full pay for work missed due to quarantine/self-isolation or vaccination appointments.

• We have a training budget available to all staff for accredited bushcraft training with Survival School or to allow less experienced instructors to shadow our team at partial pay.

• If a contract will require a long drive, we provide food and coffee allowances in addition to our mileage allowance.

• If a contract will require a particularly early start or late finish we will provide a hotel room that would not normally be shared.

• We provide all staff with access to our various corporate discounts.

• The Staff Hardship fund can also be made available to support you in receiving physiotherapy or mental health care in instances where the NHS is overstretched (regardless or whether any injuries were received “on-the-job”).
