Job Description

We are seeking an experienced guide to head up our newly developed programs based out of the scenic alpine village of Glenorchy, a beautiful 40-minute lakeside drive north of Queenstown. Surrounded by towering mountains, braided rivers, deep-blue lakes and lush beech forests, Glenorchy is a rare bit of paradise.

The program was born out of our passion for active travel, a love of the great outdoors, and the lifelong memories of the people we meet along the way. Glenorchy has been attracting visitors since the first settlers arrived in 1861 and people continue to be drawn to this magical place today.

Our programs consist of all-inclusive 3, 5 and 6 day itineraries that share extraordinary hiking, discovery and local expertise with our guests.

We are part of a triple-bottom-line business, that makes its choices based on what's best for people, planet and profits. All profits benefit the Glenorchy Community Trust, directed by local community members. The mission and vision of the community trust is to increase the vibrancy and resilience of the community of Glenorchy.

The overarching mission for businesses is to continually create experiences that educate, inspire and delight our visitors. The Head Guide will be instrumental in creating the training, culture and development pathways of our future guides as well as assist us with being an active participant and contributor to all aspects of the business driving the overall success of the organisation.

We are seeking a candidate with at least 5 year’s relevant experience leading guiding programs for discerning travellers. Confident and capable in alpine environments you’ll understand what it takes to deliver experiences that transform, inspire and delight our guests. An Inspirational storyteller of the natural and cultural history of our region you’ll bring your own unique contribution and personality to the programs.
