Job Description

One of our unique resorts is looking to employ a Head Ranger to assist Management with Supervising the team of Rangers, e.g managing the guides and guest activities, guided excursions to guests. You would also be responsible for routine and preventative maintenance and managing the maintenance around the lodge, and guiding equipment

 

Must have

  • 2 years’ exp as field guide / game ranger
  • 1 years’ exp in maintenance
  • 6-12 mnts exp in supervision / management

Education / Certificates

  • Grade 12
  • FGASA Level 1 (minimum)
  • DEAT Registration
  • Certificate / qualification in maintenance would be of an advantage
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
  • Valid driver's license with valid public drivers' license

Skills and Requirements

KPA’s:

  • Offer guests a complete experience and a perfect stay by ensuring guest are experiencing the highest standard in all excursions undertaken at the Lodge
  • Ensure guests are safe at all-times and secure and that the ranger are in control
  • Hosting of guests with meals
  • Scheduling all guides activities- including boating, fishing, walking, quad biking and any future activities brought to the property
  • Promoting and booking guided activities to guests
  • Ordering stock and capex for all guided activities- fuel, bait, cooler boxes, etc
  • Continuous training and upliftment of guides
  • Overseeing maintenance projects in conjunction with the Assistant General Manager
  • Issuing, ordering and stock control of maintenance equipment and consumables
  • Ensuring trails, fence lines and property are well maintained
  • Management of environmental and energy affairs (In conjunction with E.R.O- environmental resource optimizer-contracted to DH & R)
  • Overseeing Health and Safety checklists
  • Assist other departments if needed
  • Assisting in minor security and anti-poaching of the property
  • Take responsibility for all excursion related equipment
