Job Description

Under the direction of the Duty Manager the incumbent, will coordinate a culture of safety, focus on hazard management, and risk assessment for all employees and contractors alike. The Lead Guide is responsible for creating a safe, positive, and unique heli-skiing or heli boarding experience for clients and staff.

Lead Guides will work closely with the Duty Manager on a daily basis with the aim being to deliver a smooth and efficient heli-ski program. The lead guide is also expected to fill a supervisory role in the field with the guiding team as well as taking the lead on discussions during both AM and PM guide meetings.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Risk management for Clients, and/or staff while under your care
  • Work closely with the pilot team for safe and efficient planning of the ski day.
  • Supervisory guide in the field and lead daily ski operations with flight and guiding team.
  • Mentorship of less experienced members of the  guiding team.
  • Snow Safety- gathering pertinent snow and weather data.
  • Guide Meetings- AM & PM Guides meetings and filing of documents including meter tracking sheets.
  • Perform and appear in a professional and respectful manner while representing the company at or outside of the work place
  • Attend guest orientation and attend weekly dinner with guests as per schedule
  • Attend annual Guides training
  • Possess all required safety equipment and tools to perform their duties
  • Thorough knowledge of all products, policies, and procedures
  • Manage a enjoyable, efficient ski day with a focus on risk management and striving for the highest possible level of safety.

 

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

  • ACMG and/or IFMGA - Ski guide certification and active member
  • CAA Level 2 For Ski Operations
  • Current Advanced First Aid Minimum 80 hours
  • Current AED & CPR Certification
  • Valid Class 4 Drivers License
  • Able to demonstrate professional and appropriate radio communications protocol
  • Proficient skier in all conditions.
  • Good communication skills, in English Language (written and spoken)
  • Be in good physical condition to perform adequately in the wilderness environment
  • Computer Skills
  • Team player
  • Supervisory Experience
  • Salary/Wage: $400-$430 Day Rate based on experience
