Job Title: Master V, Med III- Explore group, Hamilton Island

Reporting to: Business Operations Manager / Fleet Supervisor

Company & job brief:

Working with the team and based on Hamilton Island, as a Master & Mate onboard our sailing Catamaran ‘On the Edge’. This vessel departs daily and visits Whitehaven & Chalkies beach during the day and a 1.5hr Sail & Sunset each evening. Your role will be to ensure that all guests have a memorable day on the water, with safety being a priority and managing the crew onboard. You will also need to oversee the general maintenance of the vessel and ensure that legislative requirements are maintained.

You may also be required to work as a relief skipper or mate across our fleet of vessels.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Minimum 2yrs experience on a similar role within the tourism industry
• Open Master V
• Med III
• Senior First Aid
• CPR
• Advanced Resuscitation
• RSA (QLD)
• Manual Driver’s License (desirable)
• Minimum 2yrs experience in a similar role within the tourism industry (desirable)

Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Effective communication with management, crew and guests
• Inducting crew onto the vessel and ensuring that they have a sound knowledge of the vessel, safety procedures and use of equipment
• Complies with crew operating levels
• Maintain necessary logbooks for operational purposes and maintenance records. Including legislative requirements are kept current and SMS is updated

• Operate the vessel within its legal parameters. Including passenger numbers, crewing numbers, vessel capabilities, permits / VINS and monitoring weather conditions
• Adhering to WHS requirements, including updating the risk register and ensuring that all lifesaving and safety equipment is current
• Complies with emergency procedures and navigational safety as per USL/NSCV code
• Assist crew with day to day operation, where required

• Other ad hoc duties as required by the business
