Job Description

(08.01.2021 UPDATED INFORMATION ABOUT OUR GOVERNING BODY - WE WILL BE ABLE TO TAKE ON BRITISH CANOEING PADDLESPORT -SUP INSTRUCTORS.)

Despite the current lockdown, we are looking for a stand up paddleboarding instructor (Either BSUPA Level 1 SUP instructor or British Canoeing Level 1 Paddlesport instructor) who can run our activity down on the River Avon between Bath and Bristol, a beautiful stretch of water-based at Avon Valley Adventure and Wildlife park.

If the instructor has an equivalent (like ASI, Watersport skills), then a conversion course must be obtained. This is a day of training at a recognized school (maybe at our location? If at our location, the conversion course is £160, but as we already have the manuals, this will reduce the cost down to £115).

The session we mainly run are BSUPA ready to ride course of which the customer must be able to pass a number of tests to gain their ready-to-ride certificate (the recognized certificate will show their confidence and enable them to hire any sup boards in the UK).

The instructor must be able to demonstrate each technique while making the session fun and enjoyable. Customer satisfaction is very important as well as the well being of every customer on site.

The instructor must be mindful of the group, ensure the wellbeing of each individual and be able to control the group size (6 per instructor). The age range we take on for the course are 12+

We also run River Trips and hire on site. The instructor must be reliable, good communication, polite, must be willing to learn and provide knowledge to customers, multitask, and have good timekeeping.

Other work will involve cleaning the wetsuits, cleaning the boards, and maintaining our small storage space and changing rooms on site. We operate at the venue of Avon Valley Adventure and Wildlife Park, so please note that their customers are also our customers, and therefore you must be professional at all times while on-site.

You will be hired for TWO days a week (in the weekends) with possible weekday hours ad-hoc. During the weekends, you will be running at least 3 sessions a day, each session is up to 2 hours long with various breaks in between.

If you feel that you're up to the task of providing an amazing experience, please drop us a message with your CV as soon as possible. We are looking to secure instructors now.

Please note that training will be provided on top of your current qualifications.

Please note, a SUP board is available to teach on, but Wetsuits and PFD as well as own safety gear is required by the instructor.

Please note that this position can lead onto other future opportunities in the area, from moving into landsports, conservation work and wildlife education.
