We have has just completed our first year of Full-time year-round operations.We provides unique experiential education opportunities, and we aim to inspire our market to learn about and explore B.C.’s beautiful wilderness while teaching conservation and environmental stewardship.

Overview:

The Project Manager will work directly with the Director of Operations to oversee a variety of tasks and delegate workload to their team as they see fit. The Project Manager will be responsible for organizing, attending and/or leading various events and programs that do not fall within the regular weekly/year long programming. Ability and confidence to lead various outdoor programs is a must.

This position does require a certain degree of flexibility in scheduling as there is potential for evening, weekend, and overnight work opportunities. There is potential to work remotely if good work ethic is demonstrated.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing and completing projects assigned by the Director of Operations. These tasks and projects may include;

  • Report executive decisions to the Director of Operations, including securing expensive venues, staff hours discrepancies,Creating Job descriptions, hiring new staff, managing Time-Off requests and approvals.
  • Communicating scheduling needs and demands with Program developers, instructors and staff, while meeting requirements laid out by the Director of Operations.
  • Oversee the logistics, planning, execution, and completion of:
  • Custom and Special events
  • Summer camp/ Winter camp- participant schedule, activities, staff schedules.
  • Building rapport with Community centres
  • Other projects assigned by the Director of Operations that may arise.
  • Effectively communicate updates with the Director of Operations regarding program needs and support.
  • Support the Program Developer/ Instructors with their program needs and ensuring all relevant information regarding his/her programming is complete and submitted on time to the Marketing team.
  • Review and submit the hours of their direct reports to payroll and the Director of Operations.
  • Assist in the creation of marketing materials when asked by the Director of operations.
  • Support the Educational Program Manager with their programs when asked to do so.

Skills, Aptitudes, Qualifications:
The successful candidate should bring at least 2+ years’ experience in a coordination role or similar and has experience supervising a small team.

It is preferred that the candidate possesses at least 1 or more valid certificates or guide licenses, in an outdoor recreation activity such as Kayak, Canoe, Hike, Rock, or other.

Class 4 Drivers license preferred, or must be willing to acquire.

MUST HAVE VALID WFR80+ or OFA lvl 3. OR must be willing to obtain.

  • Speak Mandarin or experience living in China.
  • Are a creative thinker
  • Have experience working with children and youth in an educational or guiding capacity
  • Have an Intermediate level of understanding in a range of outdoor activities such as: rock climbing, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, ropes course, mountain biking, rafting, etc.
  • Have experience working with companies such as NOLS, COLT, Outward Bound, or Where There Be Dragons.
  • Strong Background with education and or child psychology

Hours:
This role will vary between full and part-time hours as projects require, with intentions to move to full-time as the society grows and develops in the future.

Reporting Relationship:
The Project Manager will report directly to the Director of Operations.
