Hours of work: Casual, 30 - 48 hours available per week
Working pattern: Full-time / casual
Fixed term for: April to October season with options for working into December.

We are a part of the East Sussex County Council’s learning outside the classroom portfolio with three outdoor centres located on Eastbourne seafront, and in the Cuckmere valley, near Seaford and at Bushy Wood near Hailsham.

Our team consists of up to 35 plus staff working across three sites. A full season runs from 29 March to 1 November.

We are looking to engage dedicated and professional British Canoeing or British SUP Association qualified instructors to operate from our fantastic Cuckmere Valley location. Additional desirable qualifications include RYA sail or windsurfing instructor, Archery GB, NSRA rifles instructor and other land based activity coaches which will enable successful candidates to work delivering courses and sessions to our clients across our other sites.

We regularly run courses and training with externally sourced instructor training opportunities for those wishing to become multi skilled.

What we can offer you

We can offer Continual Professional Development (CPD), with courses and training. We run in-house and externally provided instructor training course each season including DI, WI and PBI, Links with BC coach trainer, Archery leader, site specific climbing, Air Rifle instructor and more coming soon.

You will have use of equipment subject to availability, launching conditions and personal ability during opening times. You will be a part of a friendly and enthusiastic team of instructors and coaches across two fantastic environments.

ESCC employs coaches and instructors on a casual basis, Accrued holiday pay is paid at 12% of earnings. successful candidates will need to be available full time, as core staff for the season.

Successful applicants will hold current qualifications, and supporting pre requisites in at least one or more of the following areas.

British Canoeing paddle sport leaders or coaches at level 1 or higher, SUP discipline support modules are desirable.

Additional desirable qualifications will be RYA sailing or windsurfing, Climbing wall Instructor, Archery GB Archery Leader, NSRA rifles instructor.

As a local authority centre a large part of our client base is Schools, Colleges, Universities, educational groups, community groups, as well as language schools. We offer a membership, and are open to the general public for tuition and hire.

Daily duties will include the set up, delivery of courses and sessions for the applicable qualifications held. Candidates expected to travel between sites at times.
