Job Description

We are seeking a passionate, caring person interested in becoming a part-time guide at the Oamaru Blue Penguin Colony. The role is varied and will include public speaking, customer service, and assisting in penguin monitoring, cleaning, and gardening activities at the Colony. 

The role is hands-on to deal with all tasks undertaken in the daily, or evening routine at the colony.  It goes without saying exceptional customer skills are at the forefront of who we are, and what we are looking for in applicants. 

The position requires well developed interpersonal skills with a passion for wildlife. You must be comfortable and confident with public speaking; therefore, experience is an advantage, and a high level of communication skills is required. A mature outlook, ability to work in a small team, flexibility, leadership, and good organisational skills are needed.  We are open seven days, so preference will be given to those who can be available to work any evening of the week and available during holiday periods.
