Located at the mouth of the Conuma River just 40 minutes west of Gold River, in the beautiful sheltered waters of Nootka Sound, BC. It is easily accessible by car, float plane or boat. The Salt Water Sport Fishing Guide is an integral part of the Guest Experience Team and is responsible for creating memorable service while guests are on wildlife tours or other adventure tours and talk and this role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel used for tours. 


The requirements of this position include and are not limited to:


  • A high level of dedication to safety and professionalism
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to take control of emergency situations and process an abundance of changing information in a timely manner.
  • An excellent understanding of our resort operations and the expectations that come with working in the high-end guided fishing market, recognizing differing stakeholder concerns. Embracing our history and heritage and that of the local Nations.
  • An individual with a keen attention to detail, and the ability to manage large groups independently keeping to establishing timelines and service deliverables.
  • Strong communication skills is a must for this role.


Required Certifications including:


    • Small Vessel Operator Proficiency
    • MED A3 Marine Emergency Distress
    • Restricted Radio Operators Certificate
    • Level one, Marine First Aid


The duties of this position include and are not limited to:


  • Adhere to all policies set out by the code of conduct.
  • Guide day trips ensuring all safety procedures are in place, adhered to and documented.
  • Develop trip plans, maps, itineraries, route plans and gear lists.
  • Salt water vessel operations (up to 4 adults) including fishing for salmon, halibut, ling cod and species of rock fish.
  • Experience of small boat operation (twin gas outboard up to 32’ in length), including close quarter handling, anchoring, minor maintenance and daily cleaning is all required.
  • Guides must purchase a BC Sport Fishing license, along with Salmon stamp.
  • Offer a high level of interpretation and education about Nootka Sound and be willing to acquire local knowledge of cultures, waters, tides, fishing areas, wildlife viewing areas, geographical landmarks. Provide safety briefings before each trip.
  • Maintain excellent communication before, during, and after your trip.
