Our business, more than anything, is about developing people. From our sales team that design courses with clients, in-office staff that makes sure courses are fully prepared for, field logistics staff who get everything to the right places at the right times and assure each day runs smoothly, trainers and instructors who focus on delivering that “light bulb” moment, managers and directors who go to all lengths to drive development and change. We are committed to growing and improving. We don’t just want to teach how to be smarter with feelings, we want to practice and live emotional intelligence. We have two high seasons, in Spring and Autumn. Each year, recruitment is more competitive and we enjoy a 50-70% retention rate. Instructors frequently come with a background in outdoor education, but just as many come from teaching, psychology and social welfare backgrounds. Courses take place in dozens of locations, from the beaches and mountains within Hong Kong, to the rivers and villages in the south and west of China, as well as other locations less frequently. We provide incoming staff with training in Emotional Intelligence using the Six Seconds methodology. Instructors receive a certificate for completing the “Emotional Intelligence in the Outdoors” course, in addition to other activity and location training. On our courses, students learn how to recognize and navigate their emotions, demonstrate caring and concern for others, establish positive relationships, make responsible decisions and handle challenging situations constructively. Staff must have a blend of outdoor, teaching and interpersonal skills to be successful.
