Job Description

We are currently looking for a motivated worker to cover our position as Senior Rock Climbing instructor and Maintenance Supervisor.

As Senior Rock Climbing instructor your duties include:

  • Upholding facility health and safety standards, including giving safety inductions to groups and individuals
  • Supervision of clientele within facility using the climbing walls, fitness equipment, yoga space and general safety supervision.
  • Design and facilitation of climbing training programs for youth and adults from novice ability through to advanced bouldering level in a group situation; and also design and facilitation of personalized training classes and programs for individuals.
  • Supervise junior staff in the facilitation of climbing programs, including supervision of advanced climbing program design
  • Demonstrate leadership within the role; act as a role model for junior staff members and for the community
  • Demonstrate high level of customer relations, as the role includes:

working on reception and front of house, checking in daily customers, engaging with each customer in a friendly and welcoming manner,  uphold facility standards with regards to customer service, assist in the management of event bookings, sales, pro shop management and membership sales

  • Cash handling and cash up

 

Experience level required:

  • Minimum three years of regular and current bouldering/climbing ability
  • Management and supervision of junior staff experience
  • High level of knowledge and experience in bouldering safety
  • Demonstrate a high level of current climbing ability and be able to demonstrate advanced skills in bouldering performance, technique and movement skills
  • Demonstrate advanced coaching skills in the above areas
  • Have the ability to relate to and work with a wide variety of customers, in age, ability and demographic
  • Minimum three years experience in a coaching climbing/bouldering context within an indoor coaching environment on artificial holds and structure
  • Continually develop your own practice by engaging in further training and professional development opportunities.
  • Ability to use initiative and be proactive
  • Ability to work well within a team environment, respect fellow staff members and report regularly to management

As Maintenance Supervisor your duties include:

  • Constant revision, checks and monitoring of health and safety risks and hazards within all areas of the facility
  • Maintain and monitor safety of climbing walls, matting and risk assessment
  • Maintain hydraulic wall and hardware such as bolts, t-nuts, and equipment is optimal shape
  • Responsible for fixing and maintaining all equipment
  • Ordering and stock takes of repairs and maintenance equipment
  • Regular review of holds safety, and report to management
  • Establish and maintain maintenance logs

At least three years of relevant experience is required with candidates who can demonstrate their ability to manage the senior responsibility of this job preferred. 

You must have/be:

  • Be fluent in English
  • Own car / transport
  • Full drivers license
  • Current Work place First Aid Certification
  • Available to work some weekends and holidays.
  • Relevant qualifications or certificates beneficial
