Job Description

Primary Objectives:

  • Delivery of instruction and/or coaching in accordance with Australian Sailing standards and guidelines.
  • Assist the Head Instructor with maintaining the standards required by Australian Sailing as an accredited Discover Sailing Centre as well as ensuring the centre operating procedures for the safe training and education of “Youth Sailing” Programs is adhered to.
  • Maintain Youth Sailing Vessels & Equipment in full working order including but not limited to Optimists, Pacers, C420’s, RIB’s, kayaks, buoys and tackle, life jackets, training aids.

 

Secondary Objectives & Responsibilities:

Administration:

  • Assist as and when required, Youth Sailing Office operations including responding to enquiries for Youth Sailing courses and programs
  • Assist with preparation and implementation of rosters in accordance with program needs.
  • Assist in conducting reviews of On-Water Risk Assessment document and update where & when necessary.
  • Make recommendations which will support continual improvement on delivery of courses, programs and overall Youth Sailing Department.
  • Report any significant maintenance requirements to Head Instructor.

 

Supervision:

  • Oversee sessions and operations of Instructors/Coaches
  • Assist in maintaining a strong team of experienced and skilled instructors including staff training and reviews.
  • Maintain a friendly and supportive role with other instructors and staff
     

General:

  • Hold First Aid Certificate, Working with Children Certificate & current NSW boat licence as well as AS Dinghy Instructor qualification as minimum.*
  • Support & assist Club activities and on water events, including Race Management services as and when needed.
  • Attend any relevant meetings for the purpose of training and program updates as and when notified.

 

Job Details

  • This role will begin as a casual position paid at an hourly rate. Hours and roster to be agreed with the successful candidate. Options for part-time or full time hours.
