Description
The Ski School Director is responsible for the overall quality of the Ski School guest experience. This is an important position with a broad-scope of responsibilities. Superior planning and execution skills are required. This person will develop, implement, and improve programs that are guest oriented and profitable.

In addition, it’s the responsibility of the Director to manage all aspects of the Ski School to ensure safe and effective lessons/programs for adults and children while working to achieve the financial imperative required by the business.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for recruiting sufficient ski and & snowboard instructors throughout the year required to achieve revenue goals.
  • Manages the weekly departmental schedule to ensure that lessons and programs are adequately staffed per the requirements of the lessons/programs and that staffing levels support revenue attainment goals.
  • Works closely with the Senior Team Leader to optimize the lesson/program/instructor plans to provide quality lessons.
  • Suggests ideas to improve the quality of lessons and/or implement new techniques or programs to enhance the products Nordic Valley offers.
  • Represents Ski School at weekly Managers’ Meeting held by General Manager.
  • Creates the pre-season and in-season training programs for Ski School instructors.
  • Maintains and submits accurate employee training records to HR to ensure documented compliance.
  • Ensures all lessons are conducted with the highest standard of safety.
  • Clearly communicates with customers to resolve issues in a professional and courteous manner while creating a positive experience.
  • Coordinates program/lesson activities with Ski Patrol to ensure safety for all.
  • Responsible for accurately maintaining/submitting payroll records for all Ski School employees.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Upholds, adheres to, and enforces all Nordic Valley policies.

Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • PSIA/AASI Level 2 certification or equivalent.
  • Three years’ experience as a Ski & Snowboard School Instructor.
  • Five years supervisory experience; supervisory experience leading a ski school preferred.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Must work well within cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule as needed, including weekends, nights, weekdays, evenings, and holidays in inclement weather.
  • Must be proficient/professional in interacting with the public.
  • Must be punctual, meticulous, reliable, and serve as a role model to his/her department.
