WATERSPORTS INSTRUCTOR

Job purpose
To contribute to the provision of a high standard of campus and outreach sports facilities. To deliver recognised Watersports Courses under the National Governing Bodies of British Canoeing and the Royal Yachting Association.
Key accountabilities/primary responsibilities
% Time
1. To deliver coaching, instruction, guidance and/or advice to customers/clients in line with accredited standards, Codes of Practice, legislative requirements and guidelines e.g. Powerboat, Sailing, Windsurfing, Paddlesport and more. 90%
2. To assist in the efficient and safe operation of the watersports facilities, in line with the designated Normal Operating Procedures. 5%
3. To maintain the safety of all users and the security of buildings and equipment, carrying out regular check and responding to accidents and emergencies if required. 5%

Qualifications, knowledge and experience (please note some of these are essential, but some desirable):
1 x RYA or British Canoeing Instructor Certificate including but not limited to:
BC Level 1 Coach, BC Level 2 Coach
RYA Dinghy Instructor, RYA Advanced Dinghy Instructor, RYA Senior Dinghy Instructor, RYA Dinghy Trainer
RYA Start Windsurf Instructor, RYA Intermediate Windsurf Instructor (planing or non-planing), RYA Senior Windsurf Instructor, RYA Windsurf Trainer.
RYA Powerboat Instructor, RYA Advanced Powerboat Instructor, RYA Powerboat Trainer
RYA SRC Instructor, RYA First Aid Instructor, RYA Diesel Engine Instructor, RYA Shorebased Instructor
Additional NGB Instructional qualifications
RYA YMI(Sail), RYA CI(sail)

Special requirements
The flexibility work varied hours which includes, weekends, Bank Holidays and University closures.
The flexibility to work at multiple sites where sports facilities are located
Willingness to learn and develop knowledge and to undertake Health and Safety training specific to role
