Stand Up Paddle Canada : HOW TO GET STARTED

SUP in the Great White North. There are so many places to paddle in Canada, we couldn’t possible list them all and the SUP community is thriving.

Paddle Canada is the certification recognized throughout Canada and internationally. You can do Paddle Canada Skills courses to learn as an individual, and many places offer gear and equipment to rent. The first level course to become an instructor is the Flatwater Stand Up Paddleboard Instructor Course. Followed by Advanced Skills courses, and River SUP Courses. To begin your instructor certification, you’ll need to be at least 16 years as a prerequisite (18 for the Advanced instructor certification)

The Paddle Canada Flatwater Stand Up Paddleboard Instructor courses are the Canadian certification standard. After completing this course, you’ll receive a Paddle Canada Flatwater SUP Instructor certificate. You will be able to instruct within the Paddle Canada Flatwater Paddleboard programs, self-rescue and tow with confidence, paddle gracefully in windy and wavy conditions, plan and execute lessons with clear objectives and learning outcomes, and demonstrate good judgment in group management, safety and weather.*

*It will be expected that you have a current certification in Standard First Aid with CPR. (14-16 hours) and a Current Paddle Canada membership.
