Paddle / Raft Guides South America : HOW TO GET STARTED

Here are some steps you can take to become a qualified guide:

  1. Choose a specific country or region in South America where you want to work as a raft or paddle guide.

  2. Research the local regulations and requirements for becoming a guide. This may include obtaining a certification or license, completing a specific training course, or meeting certain experience requirements.

  3. Consider enrolling in a reputable training program that provides hands-on experience and certification. Some popular training programs in South America include the International Rafting Federation (IRF) and the American Canoe Association (ACA).

  4. Gain experience by working as an apprentice or assistant guide under the supervision of an experienced guide. This will give you the opportunity to learn the local rivers and hone your skills.

  5. Consider joining a professional association or organization for raft and paddle guides in South America, such as the South American Rafting Federation (FESUDE) or the Argentine Rafting Federation (FAR).

  6. Continue to develop your skills and knowledge through ongoing training and education, and stay up-to-date with local regulations and safety practices.
