Paddle / Raft Guides Asia : HOW TO GET STARTED

There are various organizations that offer certification programs for rafting or SUP guides in Asia. Here are a few options to consider...

1. International Rafting Federation (IRF): The IRF offers a variety of certifications for rafting guides, including the IRF Guide Training and Assessment Program (ITAP). The program is designed to ensure that guides have the necessary skills and knowledge to safely lead groups on rivers around the world. The IRF also offers specific certifications for rafting safety kayakers and raft race officials.

2. Asia-Pacific SUP Association (APSA): The APSA offers SUP instructor certifications in various levels, including Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. These certifications aim to provide comprehensive training for teaching SUP techniques and safety, as well as an understanding of oceanography, weather and tides, and board design and construction.

3. Wilderness Medical Associates International: This organization provides training in wilderness medicine, which can be helpful for guides working in remote locations. They offer courses in locations throughout Asia, including Thailand, Indonesia, and Nepal.

4. Rescue 3 International: This organization offers courses in swiftwater rescue, which can be helpful for rafting guides. They have training centers in several countries in Asia, including Japan, Thailand, and Taiwan.

Before choosing a certification program, it's important to research the organization and the specific requirements for each certification. It's also important to gain experience on the water before pursuing certification.
