ABOUT ME

Having worked for the past 5 years on super yachts I am now looking to work as a senior instructor in a watersports centre which offers kitesurfing so I can gain more kitesurf instructing experience.
I am someone that will ensure that a job is done well and to the best of my abilities, as I take pride in my work. I view myself as a fast learner, dependable and hard working.

Temporary First Mate SY Antares 40M

I re-joined Antares to cover for the injured full time First Mate. Joining in Singapore we proceeded to head to Indonesia where we cruised for 4 months before heading to Brisbane for a yard period. During my time onboard I worked with three different captains and was key to the hand over each time. As mate I organised
the deckhand and dive guides along with the day to day running of the program. Whilst cruising we had live onboard guests who on a typical day would do 2-3 dives a day, also occasionally going wakeboarding and SUPing. During the yard period I was responsible for getting quotations for the work that needed to happen and then the organization of the many contractors.

I joined Aquarius during a busy commissioning period. Whist underway I held an engineer’s watch and assisted with the deck responsibilities. Otherwise I was mainly involved with the deck preventative and scheduled maintenance. For recording maintenance and checks we used ISMO and Idea. An additional responsibility was to ensure that the sports equipment worked to the highest standard. This included, SUP’s kayaks, sea bobs, snorkeling equipment and assisted the dive instructor with the dive equipment.

When I joined this world cruising boat, it was early in refit period, during which I was tasked with maintenance of all aspects of the deck equipment. During passages I was a watch leader and was involved in the engineers watch. Whilst aboard we had a live-onboard family. I contributed to a dynamic program of the education of two children. As the watersports coach, I was solely responsible for the watersports equipment which included two Tiwal 3 sailing dinghies, a Minicat, SUP’s, wake boards, water skis and a 5.6m tender with and 80hp Yamaha Engine.
First Mate SY Dama De Noche 24M

As First Mate I kept the boat and all the equipment to the highest standard possible and assisted with the engineering. This included usual preventative, and scheduled maintenance of a charter boat. During the summer season I was stand in captain when he was absent (3 weeks). When we had guest on I ran all watersports activities and served the guests. The watersports activities include wakeboarding, waterskiing, inflatable kayaks, ringos and snorkeling equipment. There was also some dive equipment for emergency situations which I was responsible for making sure was in a good working order. Reason for leaving, new captain brought a new crew dynamic.

In this position I was solely responsible for the maintenance of the deck and getting the boat prepped for charter. Then whilst on charter I helped all departments but was mainly sailing the boat and helping the guest with the watersports equipment. This included wakeboard, water skis and dive/snorkel equipment.

The responsibilities I had are to ensure the deck and tender were kept to a high standard, launching, driving and fueling the tender, maintaining the dive gear and helping the guest with the watersports equipment. Reasons for leaving, the boat was for sale.
Holiday Company Liaison at RS Sailing

The job role I had with RS Sailing is very a flexible role, most of my work involved dealing with enquiries and orders of holiday companies and individual customers. Other aspects of the job included the rigging and splicing of systems such as kickers, forestays, shrouds etc. During the summer I drove a company van towing 6 RS 100’s to Lake Garda to work as regatta support which involved emergency maintenance so keep people racing.

At the flag ship Neilson beach resort, I helped with the running of an RYA watersports center with activities such as sailing, windsurfing, powerboating, stand up paddle boarding and kayaking. I was also heavily involved with the maintenance. I was deputized into the beach supervisor role whenever they were away. The sailing fleet included, Laser Bugs, Picos, 4.7’s, Radial’s, Full Rig’s, Bahia’s, SB3’s Dart, Topaz 16’s, RS Quba, RS 100’s RS 500’s, RS 700 RS 800. During peak season we ran with a team of 24 instructors.

On this season I was a key part of setting up a brand new RYA centre. I arrived at the beginning of the setup phase. During the season we taught the entire RYA sailing and windsurf syllabus and up to powerboat level II. My responsibilities when not instructing included, the smooth and safe running of the beach and instructors, maintenance, fueling and the corresponding logs.

During this summer was responsible for the daily running of the centre, as well as the maintenance of all the sports equipment of the multi activity centre. I ran a team of 4 senior instructors and 10 instructors.

During the summer holidays, I taught the entire RYA dinghy syllabus to a wide range of ages and abilities this included disabled sailors and children of disadvantaged backgrounds. I was also involved in the maintenance of the sailing equipment. The fleet included Oppys, Toppers, Picos, RS Fevas, 420’s Wayfayers, and Laser 3000’s.
