Job Description

Position: Marine Services Assistant Rigger

Reports to: Marine Services Manager

Department: Marine Services

The Marine Services Assistant Rigger works as a part of our rigging crew in order to provide support and assistance in the stepping and unstepping of masts, rigging repair, and other light nautical duties as required. They will maintain contact with Members, Guests, clients, vendors, Management, and Staff, and conduct themselves in a courteous and professional manner.

The Marine Services Assistant Rigger reports to and receives direction from the Marine Services Manager and/or the Head Rigger.

Longer term, there may be an opportunity for marine electronics training, as well as overhead-lift (crane) training.

Duties

  • Assist with rigging and de-rigging masts
  • Perform general maintenance duties in the Marine Yard
  • Assist with launch and haul out processes
  • Relocate Member vessels as required
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by management

Qualifications:

  • Pleasure Craft Operator’s Card
  • Basic knowledge of boats
  • Proficient in knot tying
  • Harbour licence an asset
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written
  • Problem solving skills and strong attention to detail

Hours of Work: 

  • Seasonal full-time Mon-Fri position
  • Able to work occasional weekend Saturday shift

Health & Safety: 

  • Must work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act Regulation and follow in accordance to the Club’s Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Must be able to lift / carry 25kg for short periods of time.
  • Report all accidents, illnesses, or ‘near miss” incidents to your direct Reporting Manager immediately
