Job Description

First Mate / Divemaster

We are a small dive shop looking for a team player to join our team. The Dive Master is the face of the company on our snorkel and dive trips and is responsible for providing a fun and safe trip for guests. 

Key responsibilities are: 

• First Mate for all trips to and from the Key Largo reefs. We operate a 40 person snorkel boat and a 25 person scuba boat

• Equipment and reef site briefings for guests and Blue Star briefing to ensure guests understand the importance of responsible snorkeling/diving

• Ensure safety for all guests while on the boat and provide assistance to snorkelers/divers in the water as needed

• Manage gear on boat:

• Setup snorkel and dive equipment before trips

• Ensure guests are fitted with proper gear

• Assist guests with changing over tanks between dives

• Collect gear after trips and properly sanitize and store gear
• Filling tanks for dive trips

• Ensure boats and dive cage are neat and clean

• Assist captain with basic maintenance on the boats

• In water guide for guests, as needed

An ideal candidate would have: 

• A focus on delivering an excellent guest experience

• Safety first attitude and excellent safety record

• Dive Master certification from recognized dive organization (PADI, NAUI, SSI, etc) Instructor a plus as there may be an opportunity to teach courses!

• Knowledge of local Key Largo Reefs or ability to quickly learn our dive sites.

• Current CPR/ First Aid / Oxygen Administrator certification

• Ability to work in the US.

• Ability to pass background check and be a member of Keys Consortium or willing to join with a drug test

• Ability to lift 40 pounds

Job Details: 

• Per trip pay with tips plus hourly pay for non-trip related work
