Job Description

Our business in Central Queensland seeks outdoor recreation activity staff for school camp programs and visitor services. Work will involve weekend and some night work.

We are an advanced accredited Eco Tourism attraction 23klms north of Rockhampton. As Winner of Queensland Tourism awards for Adventure and Significant Tourist Attraction, the caves offer a wide range of environment and adventure experiences. There is also an excellent educational program with school camp accommodation in the Eco Adventure Lodge.


Applicants must be energetic, enthusiastic and able to relate to a wide cross section of the community in an articulate manner. They must have a passionate interest in the environment and outdoor recreation. They must be aware and responsible for implementing and ensuring all safety procedures are adhered to.

Our staff work as a team and applicants must share responsibility for the provision of guest services in a multi faceted tourist operation.


Key Duties

1. Deliver interpretative tours through limestone caves.
2. Lead small groups on wild caving adventures
3. Instruct and implement rope course and team building activities.
4. Organise and lead school camp programs including night activities
5. Work as a team member in the provision of guest services.
6. Develop and promote outdoor recreation and school programs.
7. Present Environmental activities


Experience/qualifications/accreditation in the following areas is desirable but not essential

Outdoor recreation
- Horizontal Caving
- Abseiling
- High Ropes Course
- Climbing Wall
- Initiative & Team building Programs
- Program Development & Risk Management
- Understanding of OHS
- Knowledge of equipment, maintenance & safety checks for all PP equipment

Education
- Any teaching or tutoring/coaching experience
- Ability to develop programs relating to Queensland Education Syllabi

Tour guiding
- Environmental impact minimization
- Understanding of environmental systems associated with Caves & surrounding Dry Rain Forest
- Understanding of Geology associated with limestone caves

First aid qualifications

Blue Card

Own transport and drivers license essential
