Ski Patrol, reporting to the Supervisor, Operations and Safety, ensures the safety of all users of Whistler Olympic Park (WOP) and responds to all first aid requirements in a professional and timely manner.  Seasonal Full Time and Casual roles require the ability to work weekends and evenings.  Incentive bonus available for seasonal full time role.

Responsibilities

Work with and under the direction of the Supervisor, Ski Patrol and Safety and other Pro and Volunteer Patrollers
Provide first aid to public, athletes, and colleagues
Ensure public safety at WOP
Maintain records of all weather, accidents, occurrences, and actions
Maintain signage and fencing
Build and maintain Snowshoe trails
Assist Supervisor, Ski Patrol and Safety with colleague and volunteer training
Operate all equipment in a safe and responsible manner
Interact with volunteers to ensure their inclusion in department team
Carry out Whistler Sport Legacies’ AIM philosophy:  All Interactions Matter
Assist the team with other duties as assigned or required
Position Requirements

Education/Experience

1-3 years of experience as a pro patroller (recommended)
First Aid OFA Level 3
Experience operating snowmobiles (training provided)
Knowledge of radio protocol
Avalanche Skills Training Level 1, Operations Level 1 preferred (recommended)
Satisfactory criminal record check is mandatory prior to commencement of employment
High ropes certification or experience with ropes an asset
Reliable winter transportation (WOP is not serviced by transit)
Valid BC Driver’s License and abstract required

Skills:

Keen and can-do attitude
Handy-man skills an asset
Willingness to assist other team members (perhaps outside the department) as needed and requested
Exceptional customer service is essential

Physical Requirements

Ability to work outdoors in variable weather winter conditions performing physically demanding tasks
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to regularly lift 50lbs
